Greenlight to invest $57M in Hudson Valley

WALLKILL, NY – Greenlight Networks or “Greenlight”, a leading provider of fiber-to-the-home services in New York, announced that it will expand its fiber optic Internet network to the Hudson Valley. The company plans to begin offering multi-gigabit Internet services in the Town of Wallkill starting Summer 2023. Greenlight will invest nearly $9 million in network and infrastructure build outs over the next year, creating jobs and opportunities for local contractors. Additionally, the company intends to invest a total of $57 million in the Hudson Valley region over the next 5 years as part of its expansion plans.

Greenlight has announced plans to begin underground construction in the hamlets of Mechanicstown and Scotchtown in Spring 2023, followed by aerial construction in Winter 2023. The company’s President and CEO, Mark Murphy, stated, “The Wallkill Town Supervisor has already been a great partner in this expansion and, like our team, is enthusiastic about Greenlight coming to Wallkill. Together, we’re bringing superior speeds and competitive pricing to local residents, including our newly introduced multi-gigabit fiber services which will be a true gamechanger. We’re excited to welcome new customers to our growing network and look forward to building our presence in Wallkill and other areas of the Hudson Valley region.”

Greenlight has recognized that the Hudson Valley region currently lacks adequate access to fiber Internet. In fall 2022, the company began collaborating with local officials in Wallkill to obtain the necessary approvals and agreements to commence construction. Greenlight is now closely cooperating with local utility companies to gain access to utility poles, which will enable them to expand the number of homes that have access to their services.

“Greenlight Networks is making a significant investment in Wallkill by installing its new fiber network, which will provide more residents with access to reliable, high-speed Internet services,” said George Serrano, Wallkill Town Supervisor. “This investment will bring added value to our community’s homes and give residents more options when choosing an Internet provider that best suits their needs.”

All of Greenlight’s Internet services, including the new 5 Gig service that the company announced earlier this month, are symmetrical, meaning that upload and download speeds are the same. Symmetrical Internet provides the most reliable and robust Internet connectivity without latency and delays and supports maximum connectivity with a dedicated connection.

Residents in Wallkill, including the hamlets of Mechanicstown and Scotchtown, will begin to see Greenlight Networks and its subcontractors’ trucks as construction activities expand throughout the community. Residents can visit Greenlight’s ‘What to Expect During Construction’ page to learn more about the company’s progress in their neighborhood and sign up to receive updates and express interest in services. Once construction is completed, customers who pre-ordered services will be notified to schedule in-home installation by a Greenlight Networks fiber technician.

About Greenlight Networks

Greenlight Networks is a leading provider of fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) services in New York State. The company offers high-speed, reliable internet service to residential and business customers. Greenlight’s mission is to bring fiber-optic internet to every home and business in the state, providing customers with faster and more reliable service than traditional copper or coaxial cable internet.

One of the key advantages of fiber-optic internet is its high speeds. Greenlight’s service offers speeds up to 10 Gbps, which is significantly faster than most traditional internet options. This makes it ideal for streaming high-definition video, playing online games, and working from home.

In addition to its fast speeds, Greenlight’s fiber-optic internet is also more reliable than traditional internet options. This is because fiber-optic cables are less susceptible to disruptions caused by weather or other external factors. This means that Greenlight customers can enjoy a more consistent internet experience, with less downtime.

Greenlight’s fiber-optic internet service is also scalable, meaning that it can grow with customers’ needs. This is particularly useful for businesses that need to expand their internet capabilities as they grow.

The company has identified the Hudson Valley region as being underserved in terms of its current access to fiber internet. In fall 2022, the company began collaborating with local officials in Wallkill to obtain the necessary approvals and agreements to commence construction. Greenlight is now closely cooperating with local utility companies to gain access to utility poles, which will enable them to expand the number of homes that have access to their services.
